Was Lost and Now Is Found

bobo

We found Bobo, lifeless, in a ditch in front of the neighbor’s yard about 15 hours after he escaped. Kevin scooped him up and brought him home.

No one had much hope.

Kev warmed up the heating pad and I mixed some sugar water and we began feeding Bobo with a dropper.

At first, the water would come right out of his nostrils. Bobo was too weak to pick up his head. But as soon as the sugar entered his bloodstream, he gained a little strength. We did this for almost two hours.

Needless to say, the bird is exhausted.

I’m pretty sure Kevin is, too.

He has his beloved bird back and I think they are equally as happy.

This Is My Hometown

angel

I made a trip into town today to pick up some paperwork at the high school and took some snapshots along the way to document just how interesting country life is.  The photo above is our neighbor’s dog, Angel, who was old when we moved into the neighborhood almost ten years ago. Notice that Angel is running ahead of her owner who is still way down the road.

Upon closer inspection I realized why Angel still has a little hitch in her giddyup. Apparently deer legs are the canine Fountain of Youth.

A couple miles down the road, a farmer is planting despite the record cold spring. I want him to have a good season. When the farmers are doing well, everyone benefits. Last night this same man was planting long after I went to sleep around midnight.

dandielions

No matter how rotten the weather, dandelions manage to flourish.

When I turned the corner to enter the high school parking lot, this is what I found:

It seems the seniors have a tradition of driving in on their tractors on the final day of school.

Reminds me of this song:

I love this town and its country folk.

Bobo Update: We heard him screeching this morning so we know he’s alive, but we have yet to spot him in the woods. Kevin is pretty worried but is determined to find him.

Diplomacy

sisterly-affection

A couple days ago I covered a preschool graduation for the newspaper. If ever you have the chance to attend one of these, I highly suggest you do! This age group is already adorable but then you add singing and the handing out of diplomas. They were so proud of themselves!

I love this picture the most. This little sister COULD NOT WAIT to hug her big sister and ran up while the event was still taking place. Right after this picture was taken, the little sister grabbed the diploma and held it to her mouth, shouting “I LOVE YOU, SISTAAAH!”

Yeah. Hard to take pictures through tears.

Quote of the Month
I haven't trusted polls since I read that 62% of women had affairs during their lunch hour. I've never met a woman in my life who would give up lunch for sex. ~ Erma Bombeck

  • Big Media Pull Out All Stops to Elect Obama
  • Obama: Fundamental Change? Count on It
I am sincerely worried that if Obama wins, the checks and balances incorporated into our Constitution may not be enough to prevent a radical and irreversible diminution of our individual liberties because a confluence of factors has emerged to create a climate conducive to fundamental change. These factors are: a shockingly unknown candidate, whose. . .
  • Why the Left Wants to Change America
If you ask most supporters of Sen. Barack Obama why they so fervently want him to be elected president, they will tell you about their deep yearning for "change."And that, of course, has been the theme of the Obama campaign from its inception -- "change." It is the word found on nearly all the placards at Obama rallies. It is. . .

One of the biggest and most long-lasting "change" to expect if Barack Obama becomes President of the United States is in the kinds of federal judges he appoints. These include Supreme Court justices, as well as other federal justices all across the country, all of whom will have lifetime tenure.Senator Obama has stated very clearly what. . .
