Drastic Measures

Saturday, October 7th, 2006

Elly needed a ruler for her homework and searched the house for quite some time before coming up empty handed. She thought about it for a while and said “I am going to make my own ruler.”

“You go, girl. Way to improvise!”

She took a piece of paper and made one inch marks using her thumb as a guide. Then she took clear tape to cover it so it couldn’t be written on or marked up by her pencil as she used it.

“Now I can get my work done!” she exclaimed. “Do you know what I’m going to call my ruler?”

“What are you going to call your ruler, Elly?”

“Drastic Measures.”

Hydration Specialist

Saturday, October 7th, 2006

This just in: It was another win tonight for the varsity football team. We are undefeated this year thanks to my son’s great efforts as water boy. Seriously. What team can be undefeated this late into the season if they aren’t well hydrated during the game?

Darren and I have yet to miss the Friday Night Lights. Fair or foul weather, we are there, waiting with bated breath for a time out to be called so that our baby boy can shine. Everyone else is headed to the concession stand but not me. I’m there at the sidelines shouting “YES! GET IN THERE KEVIN!! GOOOOOO! KNOCK THAT THIRST INTO TOMORROW! THAT’S MY BOY!!!”

Tonight at halftime we saw evidence of Kevin’s devotion to his role on the team as a dozen or so boys lined up against the fence and peed into the weeds for several minutes.

All thanks to number 52.

I haven't trusted polls since I read that 62% of women had affairs during their lunch hour. I've never met a woman in my life who would give up lunch for sex. ~ Erma Bombeck

  • Obama: Fundamental Change? Count on It
I am sincerely worried that if Obama wins, the checks and balances incorporated into our Constitution may not be enough to prevent a radical and irreversible diminution of our individual liberties because a confluence of factors has emerged to create a climate conducive to fundamental change. These factors are: a shockingly unknown candidate, whose. . .
  • Why the Left Wants to Change America
If you ask most supporters of Sen. Barack Obama why they so fervently want him to be elected president, they will tell you about their deep yearning for "change."And that, of course, has been the theme of the Obama campaign from its inception -- "change." It is the word found on nearly all the placards at Obama rallies. It is. . .

  • Obama and the Law
One of the biggest and most long-lasting "change" to expect if Barack Obama becomes President of the United States is in the kinds of federal judges he appoints. These include Supreme Court justices, as well as other federal justices all across the country, all of whom will have lifetime tenure.Senator Obama has stated very clearly what. . .
